Intercultural understanding (in the Middle East)
Overview
The world is becoming a global village. The development of technology has enabled a
constant flow of information and ideas across boundaries. Communication is faster and
more available than ever. The development of transportation has also increased face-toface
contact with people from different cultural backgrounds immensely. Widespread
population migrations have changed the demographics of several nations and new
intercultural identities and communities have been born. Cultural diversity and
multiculturalism are the realities of working and domestic life everywhere.
There is ample opportunity for misunderstandings and poor communication in the
international and multi-cultural business community. Both will have negative effects on
people and businesses.
