The Human Touch: Alternative Healing Techniques to De-stress You and Your Child with Special Needs
Overview
Because of their atypical sensitivities and their difficulties experiences in the outside world, children with special needs experience tremendous stress. Their stress levels are compounded by the fact that they are constantly struggling to perform their tasks as a result of their diverse deficits. Caregivers also take on tremendous stress as they strive to do their best for their autistic children. Whether it is the stressors that come from taking care of their children on a daily basis, financial pressures, or worries about the future, caregivers can often feel overwhelmed.
What this workshop strives to do is to teach caregivers simple techniques to de-stress their children and themselves. Adapted from various alternative healing disciplines, many of these strategies can be practised within the home setting or even in the public space. Above all, the incorporation of these simple calming and de-stressing strategies in their daily lifestyle can ensure the well-being of both the caregivers and their children so that they can cope with their challenging life successfully.
